BPD Team

A program established to treat and follow our patients with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

In 2010, the NICU at Women & Infants Hospital established a program to treat and follow our patients with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia, known as BIT:S (Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Interdisciplinary Team: Severe).

The BIT:S program has seen many successes, which have driven us to meet the needs of our vulnerable babies with BPD. The program is led by neonatologists at Women & Infants Hospital, pediatric pulmonologists, pediatric cardiologists, and a pediatric intensivist from Hasbro Children's Hospital.

The following poster keeps the healthcare team up-to-date on the BIT:S program.

Our NICU at Women & Infants Hospital is a member of the national BPD Collaborative. The Collaborative "is comprised of institutions with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to optimizing outcomes of infants and children with severe BPD. We support the concept of BPD prevention in preterm infants." The BPD Collaborative includes 12 institutions who "share data, develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, foster research protocols to address the most pressing gaps in knowledge."

The following is a notable publication from our contributions of data to the BPD Collaborative:
