Infants requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) are transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), located on the same campus as Women & Infants Hospital (accessible via a series of tunnels to/from Women & Infants Hospital). As our infants are admitted for ECMO, some of our neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows and Dr. Martin Keszler, visit the PICU, where Dr. Keszler conducts bedside teaching for the neonatology fellow(s). Dr. Julie Monteagudo, Pediatric Surgeon and Director of Neonatal and Pediatric ECMO, has had an integral role in making the ECMO experience even more robust.
